Rex Espiritu, M. Div.

Rev. Rex Espiritu is currently serving as senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church in New Castle, Indiana.  Prior to his graduate studies at Princeton Theological Seminary, Rex Espiritu served as an Elder and worship leader for Sunday evening services of prayer and praise at Mount Lebanon United Presbyterian Church in Pennsylvania where he was ordained by Pittsburgh Presbytery.  Rex has grown up in the Presbyterian Church (USA) as a musician, vocalist, composer, arranger and director.  During and following his graduation from seminary, he was the Associate Director of Music and also did his field education and later served on the pastoral staff at Faith Church, a suburban congregation in southern New Jersey near Philadelphia.
Rev. Espiritu's faith in Christ was shaped early on during his younger years when he received Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon, New York, a multicultural congregation within a predominately African-American community in the greater New York City area.  A classically trained pianist, Pastor Rex has led worship in a variety of worship settings for contemporary, traditional, and blended services.  He has experience in various venues, both large and small, leading interdenominational/ecumenical gatherings of worshippers at churches, retreats, seminars and conferences nationwide.
Pastor Rex Espiritu’s varied background in pastoral ministry includes being a committed intercessor, leading mission teams abroad, administering pastoral care, serving as a leader in Stephen Ministries and as a hospital chaplain.  He is also a seasoned business professional who holds a B.S. in computer science from Columbia University with supervisory and senior engineering/corporate experience in software development, network management and systems administration at Logica Carnegie Group, and General Electric for NBC News.  Rex and his wife Melissa have six children.  He enjoys spending time with his delightful and talented family.

Come on by and say, "Hello!"

In the context of today's culture in which it seems our society is ever all the more marked by busy-ness, and as one who is being continually challenged in my pastoral vocation to be pastorally accessible, I invite you to come by and visit my blog site and/or web site, chat for a bit over a warm cup, a bite to eat, and/or a brief virtual byte over the net.  Of course, if you are actually physically in the area, please feel free to stop by the church office and say, "Hello!" in person yourself!  I am one who enjoys taking interest in how God is working in others' lives, drawing people into a deeper experience of the Lord's power and presence for God's glory and our good.  So, come on by and say, "Hello!"  ("You've got mail!")  My aim/msn/yahoo instant messenger/messaging screenname is:  rexespiritu

Inwardly Strong, Outwardly Focused:

Called to Risk and Trust as Christ’s Faithful Evangelist

I pray that out of His glorious riches, He may strengthen you all

with power through His Spirit

in your inward being.  Ephesians 3:16

For those who want to save their lives will lose it.

But those who give up their lives for my sake, and

for the sake of the gospel, will find true life.  Mark 8:35

After having recently attended the inaugural conference of the Presbyterian Global Fellowship held at our denomination’s largest congregation, Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia, I was reminded of a particular passage...  Read more...
